{"id":4538,"date":"2020-01-10T14:11:52","date_gmt":"2020-01-10T12:11:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webspellchecker.com\/?page_id=4538"},"modified":"2024-12-26T16:04:03","modified_gmt":"2024-12-26T16:04:03","slug":"gdpr-commitment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/webspellchecker.com\/legal\/gdpr-commitment\/","title":{"rendered":"GDPR commitment"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"WebSpellChecker'sGDPRCommitment-OurCommitmenttoDataProtection\">Our commitment to data protection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here at WebSpellChecker, we are committed to compliance with the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eugdpr.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">General Data Protection Regulation<\/a>&nbsp;(GDPR), a new EU data privacy regulation that will go into effect May 25, 2018.&nbsp;The regulation is designed to give EU citizens more control over their data and to unify a number of existing privacy and security laws under one comprehensive law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our customers can have confidence that we have made GDPR a priority and has devoted significant resources toward our efforts to comply with GDPR.&nbsp;We have closely analyzed the requirements of the GDPR and are working to make enhancements to our products, contracts, and documentation to help support WebSpellChecker\u2019s and our customers\u2019 compliance with the GDPR.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The GDPR applies to all companies that do business with EU citizens or process data of EU citizens regardless of the location of the company that is processing such data. In that spirit, we want to share some examples of what we have in place to prepare for the GDPR and how customers can partner with us to support their GDPR compliance initiatives:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Data Processing Addendum<\/strong>. We&#8217;re offering our customers a GDPR-compliant Data Processing Addendum (\u201cDPA\u201d) to the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"\/terms-of-service\/\" target=\"_blank\">Terms of Service<\/a>, as well as Standard Contractual Clauses governing the processing of EU personal data.&nbsp;If the GDPR applies to your company and you don\u2019t already have a DPA in place with us,&nbsp;please go to the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"\/dpa\/\" target=\"_blank\">DPA page<\/a>&nbsp;download the DPA. Follow the instructions provided to sign and return it to us.<\/li><li><strong>Privacy Policy.<\/strong>&nbsp;We have updated our&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"\/privacy-policy\/\" target=\"_blank\">Privacy Policy<\/a>&nbsp;that goes into effect on May 25, 2018. It&nbsp;provides transparency with respect to our data collection and handling practices.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Cookies Policy.<\/strong>&nbsp;We\u2019ve added a new&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"\/cookies-policy\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cookies Policy<\/a>&nbsp;to make it easier to review alongside our use of cookies and other technologies.<\/li><li><strong>Security Measures.<\/strong>&nbsp;We\u2019ve implemented a number of technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect the security and integrity of your data.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Data Security Officer.<\/strong>&nbsp;We\u2019ve appointed a Data Protection Officer (DPO)&nbsp;to oversee our privacy and data protection compliance. Personal data of our customers and their authorized users of WebSpellChecker\u2019s proofreading services is processed in order to provide such services pursuant to the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"\/terms-of-service\/\" target=\"_blank\">Terms of Service<\/a>&nbsp;and in accordance with the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"\/privacy-policy\/\" target=\"_blank\">Privacy Policy<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"\/dpa\/\" target=\"_blank\">DPA<\/a>. We obtain consent before collecting personal data for any other reason and gives data subjects the opportunity to withdraw consent at any time.<\/li><li><strong>Subprocessors.&nbsp;<\/strong>We\u2019re working with all relevant 3rd party vendors and subprocessors to make sure they\u2019re GDPR-ready and that we have signed DPAs.
